The Crescent City Cyclists annual fall century ride will once again start and end on the Tammany Trace rail-trail in St. Tammany Parish. Registration and the after-ride party will take place under the tent directly accross the Trace from the end of Koop Drive, west off of LA Hwy. 59, 1/4 mile north of I-12 Exit 65.

All routes will proceed North on the Trace to Abita Springs (5.7 miles), then wind through the scenic hills of northern St. Tammany Parish, and return to the Caboose Trailhead via theTammany Trace from Abita Springs. The Full Century riders will also do a 25 mile loop in Washington Parish.

Route maps and road markings will point the way, and helpful volunteers at strategically placed rest stops will stand ready to quench your thirst and quell your hunger pangs. Once back at the trailhead picnic pavilion, you will enjoy a hearty post-ride meal.with plenty of food and drink..

Safety

While the century is designed to be an enjoyable experience, the event is held on public roads open to other vehicles. Riders should expect to encounter motorists and be prepared for road hazards. Participants should operate their bicycles in a safe and lawful manner and obey traffic laws throughout the ride. The CCC requires the use of ANSI or Snell ap-proved helmets for all club rides including the century. Everyone is encouraged to ride with a partner, and children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration

The registration fee for the Crescent City Century is $35. The century fee includes SAG support, restroom facilities at the trailhead, maps, road surface markings, and lunch with beer and soda following the ride. All pre-registered riders will recieve a free Crescent City Century T-shirt. In order to control costs and continue to sponsor this annual event, T-shirts will not be available for day of event registrations. To receive a T-shirt, your pre-registration must be postmarked by Saturday, September 9, 2006.

The century will be limited to the first 500 riders to register.

Members of Crescent City Cyclists who pre-register by September 15 will pay a discounted price of $30. This discount is valid for pre-registration only. All registrants will pay $35 on the day of the century. Non-members may join CCC and save $5 on their century fee by submitting a membership application and dues ($18/yr individual, $25/yr family) along with their century pre-registration. Members, of course, need only complete the century pre-registration part of the form.

You can also register for the century online at active.com. Note that active.com charges a convenience fee for their service which is in addtion to the stated century registration fee.

Note: CCC membership is not available via Active.com. If you are a non-member and want to join the club in order to take advantage of the pre-registration discount for members, you will need to print, fill out and mail in the combined registration form.
